If you would like to see more images of mid-century kitchens from 1956-59 you can find them in my Flickr gallery. Tomorrow I'll be sharing images of bedrooms & livingrooms.

These are great! and they make me want to actually where I dress while I do my chores, instead of this old, paint stained, high school t-shirt I'm wearing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the pics! Dresses and pearls seemed to be a kitchen necessity in the '50s. Everyone was trying to look like June Cleaver and Donna Reed.
ReplyDeletei agree with leah. i love these pictures + i feel a bit motivated to dress up while i do some housework.
ReplyDeleteps. i love your blog. it makes me very happy!
Hi Nicole! Glad you're enjoying the images. I love your blog as well. Since I'm currently in the process of getting ready to move to Napa it's been really inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHi - I popped over from another blog. Love these pictures. I do have to laugh (in a way). I grew up in the 1950's and 1960's. I never saw kitchens that looked like these - not even in the brand new house that my parents had built in 1961-1962. Mom did have turquoise appliances and sink, tho!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the pics, Packrat! Keep in mind the images are from magazines and feature showroom/designer kitchens. Naturally they weren't typically found in every average home. Most people probably didn't have the budget for some of these kitchens.
ReplyDeleteIf you picked up a shelter magazine today you'd find plenty of photos featuring fancy kitchens not found in most homes.
